How Getting Inked Started Me On My Path

Jeremy Swan working on my arm

For years, I was the kind of guy who could never decide what kind of tattoo to get. Then my buddy G. got an amazing sleeve and I decided on the spot that I needed that artist, the inimitable Jeremy Swan, to hook me up with a sick piece. After deciding on a ¾ sleeve I let Swan work his magic. That was just the beginning.

For many people, getting a tattoo seems like an irreversible decision and hence carries a lot of weight. What if you choose something you’ll regret later? While I definitely don’t recommend tattoos for everyone, it was exactly what I needed to make a change.

When I decided to get inked and leave the details to chance, a big change happened in my life.  cheap NBA jerseys I started to let go of all cheap NFL jerseys the “what ifs” and irrational fears that would keep me from just jumping in and enjoying my life to its fullest.  unserer I started thinking about what I really wanted out of life…. What made me happy, and I ultimately realized that for me, that thing was travel.  I’d already taken a huge leap with my Kay?t tattoos… why not with something I’d always wanted to do?  So I decided to travel to some places I had never been before and explore the world around me.  It was the best thing I ever did.

You’ll never travel if you don’t start and how can you have new amazing experiences and ty meet interesting people from all over the world if you don’t go anywhere, right?

So, go ahead, take a leap of faith. When I tell people how I chose what would be tattooed on my back (my In?enjering whole back!) they often don’t get it or think that I am incredibly brave…or completely crazy.

It’s all about the start. New experiences are where it’s at. Thing As soon as I gave up the irrational need to want to control the outcome of situations, I was able to trust in the process and just experience what was happening. In addition to getting a sleeve, I knew I wanted a full back piece. I had an amazing artist. I chose to trust in his skills, taste and knowledge of my personality, to come up with a beautiful tattoo. I cheap NFL jerseys told him “You know what I like. Draw something good and I will get it.” Free of constraints and with a huge canvas, J. was inspired to kick ass and create a masterpiece. I actually didn’t even let Propolis him show me what it was until he had tattooed it onto my body. This was a 5 hr. tattoo session. I was not going to get this removed, ever.

Fear, or even worse, the fear of regret, often holds people back from taking chances and truly living in the now. Once you get used to pushing your comfort zone, you will be amazed at the new things you want to do, places you will go, etc…For me, getting inked was that first leap and it changed me from the outside in.

If you live in the LA area (or need an excuse to visit), why not get a tattoo from the best artist around, or one of his top-notch crew at Broken Art Tattoo.
